As it is every year, it was stressful and exhausting. But most importantly, the delicious, <strong>fresh EVOO Bilini is here<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"section-header\" class=\"section-header\">Preparations for the Harvest<\/h2>\n<p>About a month before the start of the harvest, we began preparing our olive groves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trimming around the trees with a trimmer<\/li>\n<li>Mowing between the rows with a tractor<\/li>\n<li>Thoroughly cleaning stainless steel barrels<\/li>\n<li>Removing shoots around the trunks to avoid obstacles during harvesting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Trimming grass in our olive groves was very similar to what you see in the video below \ud83d\udc47\ud83c\udffb<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ko\u0161nja maslinika pred berbu\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fb3i_UwpSkw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div><\/p>\n<p>Coordinating everything was crucial to ensure <a href=\"https:\/\/konverzija.hr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my regular job<\/a> wasn\u2019t neglected. In other words, after an 8-hour day at the office, I\u2019d put on my work clothes, drive 50 km north, and get to work. Every day, unless it rained.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"section-header\" class=\"section-header\">Olive Harvest 2024<\/h2>\n<p>Did someone mention rain? \ud83c\udf27\ufe0f This year, the weather wasn\u2019t as bad as <a href=\"https:\/\/opg-rakovac.hr\/en\/blog\/evoo-bilini\/fresh-evoo-bilini-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last year<\/a>, but it wasn\u2019t ideal either. At least not while we were picking.<\/p>\n<p>Before the harvest, we often get offers (mostly from foreigners) who want to help with the harvest to &#8220;experience that primal feeling&#8221; of olive picking. It\u2019s a lovely thought, but it doesn\u2019t have much to do with reality.<\/p>\n<p>Our average day in the harvest goes like this:<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f Waking up around 6:30;<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f Leaving Pula for Rakovci at 7:00<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f Carrying empty crates to the olive grove for the day\u2019s picking<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f 8:00 &#8211; Start of the harvest<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Berba maslina 2024.\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ueMSd3KO7yA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div><\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f We pick olives alongside other harvesters. Around noon, we stop harvesting to collect the crates filled with olives and transport them to the mill for processing. Unloading the olives from crates into large bins.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f This year, we managed to make three trips to the mill per day.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f Bedtime at the latest by 21:00.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f Next day: repeat.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udf1f \u2026 and again.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"section-header\" class=\"section-header\">Fresh EVOO Bilini<\/h2>\n<p>After all the hard work involved in the harvest, the biggest comfort and reward is bringing home that fresh extra virgin olive oil after your olives have been processed.<\/p>\n<p>This year, fresh EVOO Bilini is <strong>fantastic<\/strong>. So, if you\u2019d like to stock up on these larger packages, it\u2019s best to do so as soon as possible.
